Am on a book-reading spree lately so that I can look at my phone lesser and scroll through fb lesser! But the pace at which I am reading is rather slowwww :/
Just wanna note down the books that I have read to keep track and to keep on reminding myself to read more!
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I finally conquered a classic! (: Proud of myself haha (Y) Initially thought the language from the olden times would be super hard to understand and that would require much more effort but I managed in the end! (: I am amazed that love stories dating from so long can still be so sweet and romantic. Classics are indeed timeless.
Still remember I bought this book for only $3 at a book fair -Super happy that it's a good buy! (:
The Confessions of A Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
I always felt the series is such a cheer to read, along with her other books with the funny protagonists. It is interesting and amusing to read about all the inner monologues she keeps having with herself, though some (or usually) they are kind of naive, weird and just don't make much sense at all! It is comforting to read about all her flaws and to know that maybe there are people out there with such silly thoughts that sometimes I may have as well haha! But seriously, an overdose of her books will just make me start hating the protagonists and feeling sick and jealous of them, because they always seem to able to get out of their own trouble they caused themselves at the end of the day which is so unfair! So everything in moderation, yes (Y)
Kindred Spirits by Sarah Strohmeyer
Another one of those books that I picked out randomly from the library shelves. The storyline is kind of expected, and it is one of those happily-ever-after books (not that I am complaining) that leaves one feeling satisfied and happy at the end. But at the same time It was a really moving book, making me close to tears for some of the parts. The characters were intriguing, the words were powerful and the meaning is so deep that I do not fully understand all of it. Requires a second read definitely in future, when I am older. Really appreciate how the ladies' friendship stayed so strong and hope I will be able to keep my dear girlfriends close by in future. Just wished I could appreciate and empathise with the martinis described in the book as well - maybe in future when I am older! I remember one quote from the book saying how blue martinis can "turn strangers into friends, therefore turn failures into triumphs" - that's a really nice and inspiring quote, which is applicable for many situations apart from the surface meaning. Oh and last thing, another lesson I gained from this book is, to obviously treasure your loved ones around you, and be glad of all the friends you have amazingly met and kept throughout your life (:
Okay! I will continue to build up this list!
